ProBiomass pushes bioenergy technology development and commercialisation for private and public sector. This varies from development of innovative flue gas filtration technologies or gasification technologies up to policy studies on biomass availability, cost effectiveness of the Dutch SDE subsidy programme or mitigating emissions. Examples of some recent projects are:
Biological methanisation of syngas from supercritical gasification. The project explores how Archea microorganisms can convert producer gas from supercritical gasificaiton to green gas for injection in the gas grid.
New emission limits for biomass combustion in the Netherlands. This joint project with DNV-GL explores the technical and economic possibilty to tighten emission limits for new biomass combustion plants.
SECTOR (Production of Solid Sustainable Energy Carriers from Biomass by Means of TORrefaction). This EU project focused on further development of torrefaction-technologies, and on supporting the market introduction of torrefaction-based bioenergy carriers as a commodity renewable solid fuel.
SUPERSLUDGE: development of a proprietary technology for supercritical gasification of sewage sludge. By bringing wet sewage sludge up to 650°C/350 Bar, clean syngas can be produced.
IEA Bioenergy Task 32: Coordination of this IEA Bioenergy network on biomass combustion and cofiring, aimed at addressing market barriers and supporting accellerated market implementation by providing essential technology information
